Overview 

This training course provides teachers in secondary schools with the tools and knowledge they need to identify and address environmental issues in their school and classroom. Participants will learn how to develop an environmental awareness program and how to engage students and staff in environmental efforts. Through interactive activities, they will gain an understanding of the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and other environmental issues. They will also learn how to create an action plan to reduce their school’s environmental footprint, and will be provided with resources for further exploration. The course aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive difference in their school and beyond.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students will have acquired capabilities to:

  • Understand the role of teachers in promoting an environmentally friendly culture in the school setting. 
  • Identify and analyze current environmental issues and challenges in the school setting.
  • Learn how to develop and implement green initiatives in the school setting.
  • Develop strategies for engaging students in environmental awareness and action.
  • Develop an understanding of the impacts of environmental issues on student learning and overall school performance.
  • Develop an understanding of the benefits of environmental education in the school setting.
  • Develop an understanding of the role of the school and community in addressing environmental issues.

Monday

  • 9:00am – 9:30am: Introduction to the course and the objectives of the training
  • 9:30am – 10:30am: Overview of environmental issues in schools, causes and effects
  • 10:30am – 11:00am: Break
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm: Strategies for reducing environmental impact in schools
  • 12:00pm – 12:30pm: Q&A session
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Wrap-up and closing

Tuesday

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Environmental education in the classroom
  • 10:00am – 11:00am: Sustainable waste management in schools
  • 11:00am – 11:30am: Break
  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Energy and water conservation in schools
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Q&A session

Wednesday

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Green procurement and purchasing in schools
  • 10:00am – 11:00am: Green transportation and commuting
  • 11:00am – 11:30am: Break
  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Green school grounds and landscaping
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Q&A session

Thursday

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Environmental stewardship and volunteering
  • 10:00am – 11:00am: Creating a green school culture
  • 11:00am – 11:30am: Break
  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Role of teachers and school staff in promoting environmental stewardship
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Q&A session

Friday

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Planning an environmental campaign
  • 10:00am – 11:00am: Engaging the school community
  • 11:00am – 11:30am: Break
  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Implementing an environmental campaign
  • 12:30pm – 1:00pm: Wrap-up and closing

CERTIFICATE: Certificate of attendance, including a description of the course content; Europass certificates on request.

PRICE: 480 euros

FREE AFTERNOON CULTURAL VISIT

SCHEDULE: classes can take place in the Morning (9:00 – 13:00) or afternoon (15.00 – 19.00).

COURSE PROGRAM AND VENUE: The definite schedule will be sent to the participants approximately 3 weeks before the course.
