Location

The aim of this course is to construct a roadmap that elevates the relevance of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as a catalyst for cultural integration and social transformation founded upon the tenets of Human Rights. Through an innovative approach and hands-on methodologies, the course provides participants with practical strategies to amplify their voices as active agents of change in culturally-diverse European societies.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students will have acquired capabilities to:

  • Understand Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within the framework of Human Rights, assessing its relevance and social value.
  • Elevate the role of educators and citizens as drivers of cultural integration in European societies.
  • Comprehend the contribution of local civil society ecosystems and their connection with the global Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Foster transdisciplinary collaborative work to amplify participants’ voices as active agents of change.

Day 1: Introduction to Sustainable Development and Education

  • Key concepts and principles of sustainable development
  • The role of education in promoting sustainable development
  • Case studies of successful educational initiatives for sustainable development

Day 2: Cultural Integration and Education

  • Key concepts and principles of cultural integration
  • The role of education in promoting cultural integration
  • Case studies of successful educational initiatives for cultural integration

Day 3: Social Transformation and Education

  • Key concepts and principles of social transformation
  • The role of education in promoting social transformation
  • Case studies of successful educational initiatives for social transformation

Day 4: Integrating Sustainable Development, Cultural Integration, and Social Transformation in Education

  • Strategies for integrating sustainable development, cultural integration, and social transformation in educational practice
  • Group activities and discussions on how to apply these strategies in different educational contexts

Day 5: Implementing Sustainable Development, Cultural Integration, and Social Transformation in Education

  • Review of key concepts and principles covered in the course
  • Final project presentations by participants on how they plan to implement sustainable development, cultural integration, and social transformation in their own educational practice.
  • Note: The program is just a draft and can be modified based on the needs and preferences of the participants and the instructor. The pace of the lessons can be adjusted to accommodate different levels of language proficiency, and additional topics can be added if necessary.

FREE AFTERNOON CULTURAL VISIT

SCHEDULE:  classes can take place in the Morning (9:00 – 13:00) or afternoon (15.00 – 19.00).

COURSE PROGRAM AND VENUE: The definite schedule will be sent to the participants approximately 3 weeks before the course.
